Winter’s wrath keeps us cooped up in our homes for months on end, and at times, it feels impossible for us to see the light at the end of the tunnel. But as the 15th largest city in the country, our beloved Columbus has so much to be discovered as we jump into spring!

It’s time to turn off Netflix and venture outside to enjoy these 5 spring activities happening right here in Cap City!

Blooms & Butterflies

Blooms and Butterflies

One of my favorite exhibits is Blooms and Butterflies at the Franklin Park Conservatory. The exhibit was opened to the public on March 7 welcoming the return of spring with an array of beautiful, exotic butterflies, and it will run throughout the summer into September.

This exhibit is offered every year, but is especially fun to visit at the start of the season. One highlight at the end of the tour is that every person gets to take home a caterpillar that will later become a Monarch butterfly (flashback to visiting this exhibit with my family as a child and being able to take home a butterfly to raise as my own)!

If you love nature and all its glory, this exhibit is perfect for you.

Gallery Hop in the Short North Arts District

Short North Coumbus, OH

Even though the Gallery Hop takes place every first Saturday of the month, it’s at its most idyllic time when the weather is warm and the scene is happenin’. During Gallery Hop, a sea of people come to High Street to experience all that the Short North has to offer, including an array of stores and new gallery exhibits with the latest artwork on display.

There are street performers, special events and food and drinks throughout the entirety of the Short North. The first Saturday of every month, Gallery Hop takes place at 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. So, get outside, enjoy the weather, fall in love with the ambience, and join in on the art!

Go to a Clippers Game!

Columbus Clippers

Nothing says ‘spring’ more than a good ball game! Huntington Park, the field that the Columbus Clippers call home, is a beautiful atmosphere to watch a little baseball. With a nice, cold beverage in your hand, some tasty treats and a glorious scene, what else could you ask for? Although it’s not MLB, we are still a good team that offers fans a great time every time! Go out and get your tickets and experience what makes the Columbus Clippers’ games as special as they are!

The Columbus Zoo!

The Columbus Zoo offers various events throughout the year. During the winter, people visit the zoo mainly at night for the Winter Wildlights. In the spring, however, people can finally enjoy the wide variety of wild animals that live outside! Columbus Zoo and Aquarium offers well over 500 different species, and with it beginning to warm up, people can now experience as much of the zoo as they want to without weather prohibiting it. Also, don’t forget: Zoombezi Bay will be open before you know it, too!

Go to a Crew Game!

Columbus Crew

Columbus Crew soccer is back for their spring season. Being one of America’s MLS teams really boosts the energy that’s felt through the crowds of fans that come to see the Crew play. Fun fact about going to the Crew Stadium – it was the first stadium built solely for soccer in the MLS league. Grab some tickets, take your friends and root for the Columbus Crew! With a variety of food and beverages and a beautiful glimpse of downtown Columbus in the background, what’s stopping you from enjoying a nice, spring day while watching the fast-paced game of soccer right here in C-Bus? Nothing!

Columbus has so much to offer, and it’s a beautiful city to be a part of. Now that the flowers are beginning to bloom and we’re getting more hours of daylight, it’s time to get outside and seize the day! Warm air, cool breeze and blue skies? Yes, please.

Enjoy the day, get active and explore the city that you love! Happy spring, Columbus!
