Great beer selection, great food—two reasons I keep going back to The Short North Pint House and Beer Garden. Here are a few thoughts on what you can expect when you pay a visit.

The Beer Selection

Pint House

With 21 oz. mugs, beer flights and wooden holster beer glasses, there are many different ways you can enjoy a good brew at The Pint House. While you can get the standard domestic beers like Yuengling or Bud Light—why would you even want to with such a huge and unique selection of local brews and out-of-town tastes rotating on tap? I typically opt for a pale ale, Belgian style or a cider, but to each his/her own!

The Food Selection

Pint House Food

Food at The Pint House isn’t your average bar fare, and truthfully—my cravings for the foods are half of the reason I keep going back. I’ve had a well-rounded mix of selections from the menu, but my go-to favorites are continuously the Fresh Cut Fries, Skillet Mac & Cheese and Pretzel Sampler, but I also love the Beer Cheese Soup, Beer & Cheese pizza and, of course, the beer-brined chicken. You really can’t go wrong on this one, guys!

The Atmosphere

The vibe at Pint House is casual and chill. The front beer garden is separated by a huge garage door that opens to an enormous bar area in the back. While it is absolutely lovely to enjoy some fresh air on the patio during the warm weather months, the spaciousness of the entire place provides a relaxed and comfortable experience any time of the year.
The décor is industrial with exposed ceilings and a streamlined flow and feel, but two walls of green-lit beer bottles add a pop of color to the space. Patrons can choose between long picnic-style seating for larger parties and high bistro table seating for smaller ones.

The Art

To tie in with the Short North Gallery Hop, every month The Pint House invites a local artist to paint an 8 foot by 4 foot mural live in the front beer garden. Art—beer—short north—local– I love everything about this idea and think it captures the spirit of the Short North perfectly!

The Service

I wouldn’t call myself a regular, but I’ve been often enough that I always recognize the bartenders and servers—and whether they know me or not, I always feel like I am a familiar face to them as well. I like that sense of familiarity and the feeling of a neighborhood bar.

The Specials

Wednesday nights at The Pint House are the best with their tap takeover menu featuring a different brewery every week, and the beer chicken special which includes ½ beer-brined chicken, fresh cut fries and a beer, all for $10!!

If you’re looking for brunch specials, you can also stop in on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Pint House is a good bar with a neighborhood feel, great beer selection and tasty food. It’s a big space, but can fill up fast on a crowded night. So go earlier in the evening and enjoy some good eats and drinks in a laid-back setting.
